Welcome to fidgetsandstims
Hi all and welcome!
I’ve never been good with introductions. Have you ever been the new kid where the teacher turns to you and asks you to say something interesting about yourself? I can see myself there, now, 13, legs trembling and the only thing to escape my lips, ‘Hi, I’m Lily and I wear socks.’ To this day this memory makes me half-laugh, half-cry as I remember the surrounding anguish. I hope that this introduction is slightly less jilted, and marginally less awkward!
If you are new here welcome. If you follow me on Etsy or Instagram welcome back. If you follow me on Instagram you will probably know me a Harry Potter/ Disney/ cat lover and that is still most definitely the absolute truth! I started my fidgetsandstims Instagram in March of 2022. I started sharing my experiences and connecting with neurodivergent people online and truthfully it was one of the best decisions I ever made. I love interacting with people, learning about their special interests, sharing their struggles and hoping together for a more inclusive world.
When I started fidgetsandstims I was at a very low point in my life, having developed some serious health conditions leaving me unable to work as a teacher, which I had spent years training for. As time went on my health conditions morphed and became more complex meaning that I was going to need to seriously rethink my future due to my health conditions. With great trepidation, I took my savings and invested in what became the fidgetsandstims Etsy shop, where I started making communication aids and other sensory products. Fast forward a few months and here we are.
I plan to share more neurodiversity content on here, offer some freebies for your inbox and as a portal for my shop fidgetsandstims. Make sure to sign up to my mailing list below to make sure you don’t miss out on new shop, blog and (hopefully) helpful downloads.
I hope more than anything you feel welcome here and valued for who you are. Most of us neurodivergent folk, and those that care about us know what it feels like to feel left out or like something is just missing. Please know that you are whole just as you are, seen and appreciated more than you will ever know.
I want to thank this community that helped me find my voice because now I’ve found it I want to keep using it.
Happy stimming today all, Lily 😊
