New and Upcoming this Year: spoiler alert

Productivity does not define your worth.
You are worthy just as you are.
You can still make a difference even if it is in a different way than it used to be.

I was recently with some friends who wished me a happy new year and said about themselves, ‘new year, new me.’ Truthfully, I’ve never really understood this sentiment and feel like ‘new year, same things with a few new things’ is much more appropriate for me.

This year brings with it a lot of exciting new things including some more trade shows at Kidz to Adultz show in Coventry (16th March), Farnborough (16th May), The Disability Expo in London (6th- 7th July) and many more. I am excited to be involved with more shows and getting the opportunity to meet new people and talk about one of my passions in life: communication aids.

With the new year comes new products, which I will be teasing below. I am looking forward to implementing some of the  ideas suggested to me for new product ideas from the Occupational Therapy Show last November. These products include two different calm down cards packs, an emotions wheel, a new and improved communication fan and a pack of affirmations cards.

I can not wait for these products to be more than prototypes and be properly printed. I will be dropping some more teaser insights and be sharing how I make all of my products in this coming month. I am hoping to be a lot more active on my blog this year as I’ve really loved getting to know you on here and through my Instagram and love it when you message me with ideas for the blog.

Thank you so much for staying tuned and following me along as I keep working on my business. One of the biggest changes I have ever faced was the difficulties that I faced with my health last year, that continues to have an impact on how I work and do life now. It has been a difficult process having to adapt my whole way of being and one which seems to take a daily effort to not push myself too far. Yet, having this space to share my thoughts (particularly on Instagram) and make and share products has been incredibly emotional and a positive experience for me. When I worked as a teacher I felt that I was able to make a difference in the lives of so many children and when I first got ill I couldn’t help but feel like my ‘unproductivity’ in those early days equalled ‘wrongness.’ I have discovered that productivity does not define your worth. Even if you are unable to do the tasks that were once easy to you, you can still make a difference in a different way.

I can not believe that I have managed to reach so many thousands of people on Instagram and frequently get wonderful messages of people sharing their stories with me. It overwhelms me how many of you share the struggles I do and resonate with the words that I write. I hope that I am able to continue to write things you find helpful, interesting and fun in the new year!
